Prudent Energy Installs More Than 20 Energy Storage Systems World-Wide

Washington, DC, USA – November 8, 2010

Prudent Energy, the leading technology developer, manufacturer, and systems integrator of the Vanadium Redox Battery Energy Storage System (VRB-ESS®) announced that, as of November 2010, the company continues to benefit from increased demand and repeat orders for its kW-Class systems across the world. New locations for these VRB® systems include the United States, China, Kenya, Hungary, Turkey, and Italy.

Among the broad range of VRB-ESS® applications, 16 systems were installed in remote cellular telecommunication sites in Kenya with Prudent Energy's local partner Safaricom Limited, a leading mobile phone operator owned by Telcom Kenya and Vodafone Group. Two initial VRB systems installed by VRB Power Inc. (acquired by Prudent Energy) have been operated by Safaricom for more than three years and have yielded superb results, cutting diesel fuel usage by over 65%.

Several VRB-ESS® systems have been installed in the United States and China to support renewable energy generation projects. These energy storage systems provide much-needed services to the power grid including smoothing power output of solar panels and wind turbines, load balancing, and other remedies to address the on-again, off-again nature of renewable energy. Prudent Energy's VRB® systems were selected for these projects based on their ideal fit for grid operations: independent sizing of power and energy capacity, a long operating life, high efficiency and fast charging response.
